Guest guest
This is a quote from Swami Vivekanada, that was posted on the Amritapuri blog site: “You all rejoice that you belong to a race of the great sages. But until those who belong to the upper classes help to uplift the downtrodden and until exploitation ends, India will only be a grave. May Mother India step forth anew from the humble dwelling of the peasant! May she appear in the HOUSE OF THE FISHERMAN! May the song of New India echo and reverberate amidst mountains and in forests and valleys”. Looks as if his words came to pass. How low will we go? Check out Messenger’s low PC-to-Phone call rates. Namaskarams! actually it is not all that surprising that vivekanandaji might have predicted Mother's birth and coming to America. After all in 1893, he told a young American man that he would meet his guru later, and that he would recognise this by a silver cup that the guru would give the young man. apparently the story goes that when the young man was a young child, he fell into a mill pond and was drowning, when in a flash of light a man appeared and saved him....12 years later he was walking down the street in Chicago with his mother (in 1893) when in a flash of light a man again appeared (the same man who had saved him when younger), and the man walked down the street (with the young man and mother following)...and into an auditorium, where he gave a rousing spiritual talk. that man was Sw. Vivekananda, and after the talk, the young man went up to see him, at which the swami jokingly said "be careful around Mill ponds", and when the young man wanted to take him for his teacher, he referred the young man to another guru yet to come...saying "i am not your Guru, your Guru is yet to come, and you will know Him by the silver cup He will give you" in 1920, Paramahamsa Yogananda came to America, and the man joined his group of spiritual aspirants....however over the years he wondered about the earlier swami's prediction of the silver cup.... in 1935-6 Yogananda went on a tour through Europe and to India to visit his Guru Sw. Sri Yukteswarji one last time....when he returned to America in 1936, he brought many gifts for his beloved devotees, which he gave them at Christmas time that year...and what did he give that formerly young man? a silver cup....forty three years after the prediction!! not only that, when vivekananda made that prediction about the young man's Guru being yet to come...that future Guru, Yogananda had only just been born that January of 1893, and was about six months old at the time of the prediction. i think that Mother Kali sent sw. vivekananda first, then P. Yogananda next...to prepare America for Her coming...both were fervent devotees of Mother Kali (vivekananda not at first, but only after being with his Guru, Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, and having experience of Her Power and Her Love, and Her Darshan at the Dakshineswar Temple)...and Yogananda didn't talk much about Kali Ma, but was an intensely strong devotee of Her, especially in his younger years, when he used to frequently visit the Dakshineswar Temple complex to have Her darshan...see the Autobiography of a Yogi for stories....not only that, but Yogananda had a loving relationship with Master Mahasaya as he calls him, who was the biographer of Sri Ramakrishna in the form of the book the "Sri Ramakrishna Kathamrita" known as the "Gospel of Sri Ramakrishna" to us westerners...and under the pen name "M" for Mahendranath Gupta... so there is a continuing link with the Dakshineswari Bhavatarini KaliMa through these men, and even through our Amma, Who walked the same path there as Sarada Ma used to do all the time...and Who after Darshan of Bhavatarini Kalima, commissioned the same family of sculptors, who had carved the original Kali Murti for the temple, to carve Her sister, the Amritapuri Bhavatarini Kali Ma Murti, Who reigns in splendor at Amma's Amritapuri Temple..... so it does not suprise me at all if Sw. Vivekanandaji (who was invested fully with Mother Kali's Sakti from his Guru...he said that after that She never left him in a moment's peace...she drove him into the ground and into an early grave (age 39))...should have prophesied Amma's birth from a fisherman's family so long before the event.... anyone who may have read all this before in this child's ravings, please forgive me....it's such a favourite story of mine! when i showed Amma a composite picture from the Dakshineswar Temple (given me by a dear friend recently returned from the Temple), which also had the pictures of Sri Ramakrishna and his beloved Sarada Devi on it, and i said to Her..."Kali...this is YOU, Amma!!"....She replied some what matter of factly "Yah Kali!" and immediately got on with the darshan.....so i took it that She was suprised that it took me so long to figure it all out...and that it was all old news by that time....(1999)...which of course it was...only i was so innocent! in Amma's Divine Love and in Her Service, as ever, your own Self, visvanathan Om Amrtesvaryai Namah! Guest guest
Namah Shivaya, Looks as if he isn't Lahiri Mahasaya, according to both the Autobiography of a Yogi, & The Gospel of Sri Rama Krishna. The Gospel of Sri Rama Krishna states his name as Mahendranath Gupta, or "M" who recorded Sri Ramakrishna's biography in Bengali. Autobiography of a Yogi shows the same man's photo, & calls him Master Mahasaya. It also makes s reference to him being a disciple of Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa. Namaskarams! no it is not Lahiri Mahasaya...Mahasaya is a TITLE, not a personal name....Lahiri Mahasaya was one of the foremost teachers of the Kriya yoga as revealed by Mahavatar Babaji to Him in those days... M, or Master Mahasaya as Yogananda called him was actually a Sakta, and a school teacher by trade, by the name of Mahendranath Gupta...he taught children in his school, and taught Yogananda some aspects of Sakta tantrika faith. He was a great devotee of the Bhavatarini Kali of Dakshineswar also, and was a link between Sri Ramakrishna and Yogananda, as well as being the writer of the Gospel of Sri Ramakrishna, which brings Sri Ramakrishna's daily doings down to us in these latter days...if you read the gospel, you will find that it is very similar in many ways to Amma's Awaken Children books.. in Her Divine Love, and in Her Service, as ever, your own Self, visvanathan Om Amrtesvaryai Namah! Guest guest
The Gospel of Sri Ramakrishna is a great book, and readers definitely get a kali ma darshan! I also highly recommend any of the older books about Ananda Mayi Ma. Guest guest
Namah Shivaya Vishvanathan, Thankyou for posting the story about Amma at Dakshineshwar. I am wondering if you could tell me where this has been documented? Or is it one of those stories that have circulated around her over the years? I have often wondered about those two lines in Amma's 108 Names that refer to Sri Sarada Devi and Sri Ramakrishna. In Amma, Nirmala Ammachi, "kasi_visvanath" <kasi_visvanath wrote: > > Ammachi, "wakkamann" <Hardisigi14@> wrote: > > > > Ammachi, "kasi_visvanath" <kasi_visvanath@> > > wrote: > > > > > Om Amrtesvaryai Namah! > > > > > > Namaskarams! > > > > > > when i showed Amma a composite picture from the Dakshineswar Temple > > > (given me by a dear friend recently returned from the Temple), which > > > also had the pictures of Sri Ramakrishna and his beloved Sarada Devi > > > on it, and i said to Her..."Kali...this is YOU, Amma!!"....She > > replied > > > some what matter of factly "Yah Kali!" > > > and immediately got on with the darshan.....so i took it that She > > was > > > suprised that it took me so long to figure it all out...and that it > > > was all old news by that time....(1999)...which of course it > > > was...only i was so innocent! > > > > > >> visvanathan > > > > > > When I googled under "amma" I also found a german site from a > > previous devotee, telling that amma has realized that Kali is only a > > damon. Namaskarams! actually i heard the narrator say it was so on one of the older Amma videos which came out a few years ago, i don't remember which one it was. Many of Amma's devotees, however, know this story...it is not just one of those stories circulating around, because it was mentioned on the video itself...thus it must be "official" information (at least at the time it was!)...as i said, though, i can't remember which of several videos it might be...perhaps one of the videos about the North Indian tour from several years ago...like 1994 or 95, or 96...the one where it shows Amma standing in the rushing waters of the Ganga at Hardwar, singing sacred songs, and going into Samadhi,...it might be that one, but i can't remember...it was a while ago that i saw it, and haven't revisited it since...although i suppose i might if it became worthwhile. it seems a little strange, to me at least, that Amma would be so interested in the Dakshineswari Bhavatarini Kali Murthi, that She commissioned the same family who carved the orginal in the 1850's to carve Her Sister, the Amritapuri Bhavatarini Kali Murthi, AFTER She had darshan of the Deity, UNLESS there is a connection between Her and Sri Ramakrsna and Sri Sarada Devi...S/he who has eyes to see, let him/her see....S/he who has ears to hear, let him/her hear. as for the "two" names in the Names equating Mother with Sri Ramarkrishna and Sri Sarada Devi, you've gotten than one wrong, as there are really FOUR of the names referring to those two... and as i recall the story was that the author of the Names, Otoor Unni krsna Namboodiripad had been a devotee of Sri Ramakrsna and Sri Sarada Devi, and had been living at one of the Ramakrsna Maths when Amma came through that town...When he met Amma if i recall properly, he saw those two manifesting in Her, and asked if he could come and stay at Her ashram with Her, stating that if he ever saw Her as Less than the incarnation of those two Mahatmas he would leave immediately...as it was he passed away in Amma's arms several years later...at Her ashram. if you have any doubts about this, i would suggest seriously that you actually READ the Sri Ramakrishna Gospel....and also read what the Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi was like...in a biography or two about Her...also you can read the Holy Mother's gospel...and Her teachings... if you actually DO READ these books, and more about that Divine couple, you will not question the similarity between Amma and Them.... even the style of the books is quite similar between the Sri Ramakrsna Kathamrita and Mother's Awaken children books...Mother's stories are so similar to Bhagavan Sri Ramakrsna, and Sri Sarada Devi's stories...Amma used to sing the same songs that Sri Ramakrsna and his devotees used to sing...for example the "Manase nin svantamayi" (O Mind become Surrendered) Also as i wrote earlier, Sri Ramakrsna used to say that He would have to take birth as a woman in His next life so that He could REALLY love Sri Krsna!...as well he predicted that he would be reborn in about 100 years, and said that he might be found as a wandering musician in a band of spiritual musicians, in the Northwest of the country, and with a hookah! (he used to love the hookah and that's probably what killed him...the throat cancer probably came from that tobacco smoking)... welll.....if you were living in Gujerat, you would indeed have discovered Amma in a band of travelling spiritual musicians, in the northwest of India, as Gujerat is in the northwest of India...it just depends upon WHO he was aiming those comments at...perhaps the person he was talking to was to be reborn there in the northwest of India...and as we know Amma travels all over India, with the swamis and the travelling circus of devotees...thus She could indeed be found in the northwest if you looked for Her there at the right time of year. again referring to those names, they actually appear to be saying that Amma is essentially the Adi Para Sakti, the ground of being....the primordial Sakti, in which those two Mahatmas had their being and their leelas...and that Sakti which indeed manifested in those days AS those two Mahatmas...Maha Kali...so granting that Amma is an avatara of Mother Kali, the Adi ParaSakti, then it would stand to reason that those two Mahatmas would be grounded in Her Sakti and would be manifesting Her Loving energy....because She alone is everything...the whole universe with its creation and creatures, both Devas and humans....when Bhagavan Sri Ramakrsna passed away, His beloved wife, Sri Sarada Devi cried out: "O my Kali!!! where have you gone!" Bhagavan Sri Ramarkrsna used also to view His own wife as an avatara of the Divine Mother Kali, He even did a ritual Puja to Divine Mother in the form of His wife one time. hope this cleared up the understandings... in Amma's Divine Love, and in Her Service, as ever, your own Self, visvanathan Om Amrtesvaryai Namah

Om Amrtesvaryai Namah! What shall I say?! Thanks for your explicite mail and also thanks to all others who have experienced Amma as Kali. Thanks for opening my eyes.I never read a book about or from Amma. So what I will do? Best said in a mail I received: "Worshipping Kali in the form of Ammachi." This answers also both dreams I had. I found my way to cross the river and Wakkamann's words "...they are looking for you.." means "...they are waiting...it's time to come." Thanks again.
