The VHP’s international general secretary, Mr Pravin Togadia, told reporters on Sunday on the sidelines of a two-day dharma sansad meet organised in Puri that those who worship Hindu gods and offers prayers before the idols should not be denied entry into temples on the basis of their colour or nationality. He voiced strong resentment against those who oppose allowing Iskcon’s foreign nationals into temples. "There is no harm in allowing inside temples foreign nationals who practise Krishna worship. They are like ordinary Hindus who pray to Lord Krishna. They should not be denied the opportunity to offer prayers at Hindu temples," said Mr Togadia. Echoing VHP international president Ashok Singhal, who on Friday said his organisation would not lend "exclusive support" to any political party, but would provide outside support to parties with Hindutva on their agenda, Mr Togadia said the VHP would support only those political parties that are committed to the Hindu cause. "Hundreds of seers who attended the Puri conclave have chalked out a 13-point charter of demands on issues concerning Hindus. Whichever party or candidate endorses these demands will get our support," Mr Togadia said. This apart, Mr Togadia said seers and religious gurus in West Bengal would raise their voice against large-scale infiltration from Bangladesh. The VHP leader criticised the Archaeological Survey of India for neglecting the centuries-old Sun temple at Konark. He also criticised the collection of entry fees by the state government at the temple. "There is no system anywhere in the country to collect fees for darshan of deities. This is highly indecent and should be stopped forthwith," he said.
