In Indonesia, the Hindu community plans to arrange a special Hindu festival to commemorate culutral art. The festival will be held in the city of Yogyakarta between the 14th and 18th of July, 2010.
Hindu arts from all regions of Indonesia will be represented in the festival, which will be the first time such a cultural event has been held in this country. The purpose of the festivities was to present the ancient Hindu arts and crafts of Indonesia to the public. The festival committee organizers have said, “People are mostly aware of Bali’s traditional arts, but there are other arts and crafts from every state of Indonesia which are equally unique and beautiful. We hope to present all of these various arts for the public to appreciate. It will be a very enjoyable learning opportunity.”
Traditionally the sacred art of Indonesia was used in religious functions and for cultural festivals. Each region of the country has their own unique contribution to the field of religious art. Some of the fields of art and culture that will be presented at the festival include traditional dance, music, painting and crafts.
