Report Chamundai mantra in Shakti Sadhana Posted September 29, 2008 Namaste Maa Nanda Please clarify whether a Namah is needed at the end of the Navarna mantra or not. For the past so many days i am chanting the mantra with namah , does it have detrimental effects . Please reply. Jai Maa Durga Bhaskar Mikael asked:Can you all tell me some basic information on the Chamundai mantra OM AIM HRIM KLIM CHAMUNDAYAI VICCE and also does one add Namaha or Swaha to the end of this same mantra? What kind of things is the Mantra used for? Namaste Mikael, The mantra "Om Aim Hrim Klim Chamundayai Vicce" is known as the Navarna mantra. The Chamunda mantra is a little different. The navarna mantra is chanted by itself when one does japa and with a "swaha" when chanted at the fire. I have not heard it chanted with a "namaha" although I will certainly check with Swamiji. This is the mantra of the Chandi Path - the basis of the entire story of the Chandi. This mantra in conjunction with the chanting of the Chandi Path helps tear down negative thoughts. Swamiji defines "Chand" as "to tear" and "Chandi" as "She who tears down thoughts". Here is the meaning of each of the bija mantras in the Navarna mantra Om - The Infinite beyond conception Arim - Creation, Rajo Guna, Energy of Desire, Mahasaraswati Hrim - Preservation, Sattva Guna,Energy of Action, Mahalakshmi Klim-Destruction,Tamo Guna,Energy of Wisdom, Mahakali Chamunda -The Slayer of Passion and anger, Moves in the head Yai-The Grantor of Boons Vic- In the body of knowledge; in the perception Ce - of consciousness Hope this helps. Please do post if you have further questions. Jai Maa Nanda ------------------------
