Guest guest
Namste All, Samskaras are more than shadows of previous lives they are the very stuff of rebirth. I don't believe that meditations can remove these tendencies without being completely detached and desireless. For they would just form again. When one moves on with the vijnanamayakosa and anandamayakosa, the negative samskaras cannot go to these higher mental planes. My feeling is they stay on the appropriate levels within the common mind, and are attracted back to the descending soul on rebirth. The great sage Ramana said that karma cannot be pruned it can only be removed at the root. In other works complete desirelessness and realisation of 'Who am I'. So for as it may be useful for a non realised person to try and remove samskaras, as it is useful to meditate, the only thing that really matters is rising above both and becoming Who am I? Just my thoughts that's all. Om Namah Sivaya Tony.
Guest guest
Namaste All, I think the interpretation of samskaras is different. I am talking of binding samskaras created with our own desires, not left over shadows or memories from other lives. If it was so easy, to remove them by chanting ganapathi deva or even humpty dumpty, a lot of people would have achieved moksha by now. No offence meant, perhaps the Buddhist word is different from the vedantic one.
