Guest guest
Dear List, OK... since we have such statements here as "The ego is an emanation of the body's immune system" (cough.. choke....) I suppose it couldn't hurt to throw in a little more silliness. How about this "point of view" : (1) "The Body" is subordinate to thought. "Body" is perceived by thought and therefore entirely dependent on thought for its "existence." If thought is not there (deep dreamless sleep, coma), "body" is unperceived. Argue all you want that "others" see it (or so you are told... and realize after you "think about it"), the fact is, "body" and "thought" are inseparable. "Body" is a concept, an "emanation of thought." Even science supports this view. All physical sensations, for example, take place in "the brain." If you stub your toe, the sensation of pain is being generated in the brain, not in the toe. The nerve impulse is relayed to the brain, where neurotransmitters and electrochemical impulses combine to create a sense of pain, with an illusion the pain is "in your toe." Take "phantom limb pain" as another example -- someone loses their arm in an accident, they still feel it (or feel pain where it used to be) even though it isn't there anymore. (2) Thought is subordinate to consciousness. If consciousness is not present (coma as an example), thought is not happening. So "Body" and "Thought" take place *within* consciousness. This, of course, includes all perceived by the body, and all thoughts (the world, the universe, the "I"dea, "others")... everything perceivable and conceivable is dependent on consciousness. No perception or conceiving takes place where consciousness is not present. (3) Consciousness is subordinate to "Awareness" or what some call "Pure Consciousness" or "Consciousness without content." Awareness is the primordial "Fullness," the deep sense of "I AM," the sense of Existence itself (not as a separate entity, but just Existence). Awareness is devoid of subject and object, IT being the only subject that exists. Awareness is present even during deep, dreamless sleep. (4) Awareness is subordinate to "Absolute." "Absolute" is unqualified and unqualifiable, unquantified and unquantifiable, indescribable. "Absolute" both is and is not. It neither has nor lacks anything. It is devoid of splits and lack of splits. It is homogenous, which means "no opposites." Since body, thought, consciousness and awareness are all subordinate to "Absolute," they are all pervaded by "Absolute," yet "Absolute" is not pervaded by anything but Itself. Nothing can be said about "Absolute," no words apply. Love, Tim (Omkara) ----- You pray for peace, you pray for love, you pray for others... Why do you never pray that you won't need to pray anymore?
