I personally think the lights can help some people, but it has also been

speculated whether the lamps that are sold commercially give off enough light to

be really effective, that their lux strength is too low.

 

My personal experience is though that even normal bright fluorescent light of

the variety that you can find in most offices can help a little against winter

depression. :)

 

SAD is a common problem as you say.
