Yes, Life lives life as it is and everyone is part of this Life, being inside it. Life practices self inquiry, Life muses about the grasping and averting mind, Life does not care about socalled spiritual questions, Life sees itself as a Seeker etc etc, Life talks to itself. Live and be in Life. There is awareness and consciousness and volition, but as we have discussed here before, what makes decisions, what has the likes and disliked, what starts to look for a higher truth ? Is it the single emotions and thoughts stringed together, or the memory of the pain of the past, or the bones in the body ? When you fall in love with someone at first sight, is this something that can be controlled ? Why is one person's favorite color red and another person's fave color is blue ? Can this like or dislike be controlled ? This lack of control (of course, there are attempts at control, but what decides to attempt to control ?), this spontaneity, is Life itself, expressing itself through itself, Life being Lived. Can you be someone else, think something else, feel something else, have the awareness which is there, other than what is here at any given moment ? Perhaps the keyword is acceptance ? And as you say, acceptance does not come easily, and there is a drive for non acceptance, a drive to get away from pain and towards pleasure. Well, can you accept that there is this drive ? And if that is unacceptable, accept the sensation of unacceptance and see where it leads to. But know, what feels like walls separating you from all the others, what seems like unscaleable walls, are shadows, they are yours only because of the habit of thinking one is separate from others. But this sensation is also part of Life as it is and is lived. I keep thinking about a Buddhist saying: "You do not awaken to reality, you awaken to the dream." Does that sound a little depressing ? Well, ok, it's acceptable to think that. Love, Amanda. Angelfire for your free web-based e-mail. http://www.angelfire.com
