Guest guest
Thanks for mentioning the new moon falling on Christmas Linda. I will be looking for it. In ancient terminology, the rays of the moon are considered cooling while the rays of the sun are hot. There is a lot of Sun and Moon symbols in the Kundalini literature as well. Ida is the cooling nadi (Moon) and Pingala (Sun) is the heating nadi and consciousness withdrawing from both and entering the central channel Sushmuna is said to go beyond heat and cold and the pair of opposites. There happens to be an eclipse on this new moon cycle and it is a few days after the solstice. Taking place in the Gemini/Sagittarius (sidereal position) axis and following the energy of the solstice nerves may be frayed, energy low and more than the usual holiday craziness. It is an important time for meditation or anything healthy for stress management. The bija mantra for the moon could be chanted "Om Som Om" or if one knows it the Gayatri Mantra. This will be an interesting time for all. Linda All paths go somewhere. No path goes nowhere. May the sun and the moon be new in every moment of these holidays. Antoine Attachment: (image/jpeg) lattet.jpg [not stored]
Guest guest
Hi Harsha: Here in the Northeast we should be able to observe the eclipse around 12:30 PM, the next eclipse that can be seen on Christmas will not be for another 300 years or so. The waxing and waning cycles of the moon are important in Vedic thought. The Purusha or cosmic man (part of standard Hindu philosophy and cosmology deriving from the Sankhya system)is believed to consist of 16 parts 5 elements (air, earth, etc.), 5 organs of action (feet, hands, etc.), 5 sense organs (taste, touch, etc.) with the mind being the 16th through which all the others are correlated. The waxing and waning cycles of the Moon reflect the Purusha in manifestation that is, each day of the cycle is responsible for either the forming or withdrawing of a corresponding element, action or sense. Prana is also more readily available according to this movement with the day of the New Moon being a time of low energy, a day of inner rather than outer action. An interesting side note to this cycle is the fact that due to the present unrest in the Middle East the Christmas rituals of the Catholic Church are going to be very much curtailed this year in the area believed to be the actual birth place of Christ. Always we are all part of the universal scheme. Have a peaceful holiday season. Love, Linda >Thanks for mentioning the new moon falling on Christmas Linda. I will be looking for it.
