Guest guest
This is an area I know very little about. A friend in New York State is practicing kundalini yoga and having frightening and intense kundalini experiences during meditation. Can anyone recommend a reputable and knowledgeable person he could talk to, call, or go see about how to deal with the problem? Basically, it's a matter of a huge energy surge during meditation, turning into severe anxiety. He wants not to give up the meditation, but he doesn't know what to do. Thanks and love to all! --Greg
Guest guest
Hi Gregg: Kundalini yoga is what I teach and have worked with for over 10 years. I live in NY (upstate) and would be glad to communicate with your friend. Please feel free to give him my email address: jyotish (AT) warwick (DOT) net I understand not wanting to give up a meditation especially if he is on a 'sadhana' but yoga should not hurt or frighten a person....it may be wisest for him to pull back. Paths, places, sights, perceptions, and indeed all experiences arise from and exist in and subside back into the Space of Awareness. Like waves rising are not different than the ocean, all things arising from Awareness are of the nature of Awareness. Awareness does not come and go but is always Present. It is Home. Home is where the Heart Is. Jnanis know the Heart to be the Finality of Eternal Being. A true devotee relishes in the Truth of Self-Knowledge, spontaneously arising from within into It Self. He had somehow accidently sent the energy up through the wrong channel of the sushumna, either the ida or the pingala, I am not sure which. I recommend it for reading. It is by Gopi Krishna. Also, if he were to get in touch with The Self-Realization Fellowship at 323-225-2471, I am positive one of the monastics could help him through this. I hope this can help you and your friend.
