Much is said

these days

of miraculous powers.

But one wonders

if anyone would trade

the ability to laugh at oneself

for the power to fly,

the power to know others minds,

for the peace found in silence,

to be invulnerable,

for the solace of tears,

or the power to control others

for the capacity to love.
