The e-mail address of the sender does appear on the header of the post, for identification, but of course, not everyone has their name in their e-mail address, so unless you recognize or remember people's e-mail addresses, that field is not useful for identification. The field most people usually display their name is in the name field appearing in the e-mail window, where JB has the initials "JB" (capitals) and Jan has the initials "jb" (small letters).
