another possible strategy...

Hi Bob,

I think this is a useful strategy, but I would propose another even more

radical one just for kicks. What would happen in the world if we all

decided to assume the best? If we assumed that everything said was said

with good intentions, and hunted for that meaning to assign to words

that we hear?

the game many of us play now is to assume the worst, and it brings out

the worst in others, so if we assumed the best, might it not bring out

the best? I'm not sure this will be a panacea, but I'll bet it would be

a useful practice.

Love, Mark

Dear Bob, Mark, Friends,

Thanks for your radical, kicking strategy.

Mark your words

are something to bet

and win on . . .

It does change the world (our world)

to practice in the way you suggest.

In a sense, the capacity to understand,

to unravel the good intent and best possibility

is based on our ability to work at this mode of seeing.

Even very angry and negative expression and communication

is still an effort (however knotted) to express connection

and interaction.

Ignorance and circumstance create our negativity

and right effort and openness allow us to delve

quite skillfully into the possibilities of our

experience and contact.

Sometimes people hurt us very badly and we must

show restraint and patience (if we can).

This does not mean being a doormat, it means

taking into consideration the best potential

and possibilities of a situation.

:-)

Dear Lobster,

It's so good to see you again! Knowing you really is knowing the best.

People may not be aware of how instumental you were in getting all

this started, as you founded ye olde iam list over 3 years ago, the

orginal list, before NDS and HS and the proliferation of new groups

since. Lobster is a very old friend indeed in internet time. I am so

glad everyone here now will have a chance to meet you and get to know

your wisdom.

Much love,

Gloria

PS. Can't resist mentioning that Lobster has this devastingly charming

English accent. We really should revive using that voice technology,

because even once hearing someone's voice goes a long way towards

improving email communciation. It's possible to actually hear them in

your mind saying what is written from then on...

I know Lobster from the early days of Angelique's K. list.

Boy did I love to spar with her...

Good training that was... to stay out of her claws.

Friends all...
