Guest guest
When my grandmother was really angry at someone, she would say, "He is so selfish that if my finger was cut, he would refuse to even urinate on it!" I grew up hearing that and so no one had to tell us that Urine was an antiseptic. It is quite possible that in the Indian psyche, it was seen as sort of a readily available first aid kit (at least for those who grew up in the native country in the old days before it became so westernized). It was well publicized that the Indian Prime Minister Morarji Desai was a strong proponent of Urine Therapy and readily spoke of it to the Indian press not caring what the rest of the world would think. He attributed his long and healthy life to his favorite morning drink which he advocated for everyone as a cheap and inexpensive way to stay out of the doctor's office. I do not recall Mahatma Gandhi's views on this but if someone has that information please post it. It is understandable that most people including Indians and Indian yogis are not attracted to such practices although they are mentioned in some of the yogic texts. When I was very young, I found the whole topic both funny and fascinating. Once I approached my teacher to discuss the topic of the Indian Prime Minister advocating Urine Therapy and asked him why such things are mentioned in yogic texts. Chitrabhanuji shook his head and flatly refused to discuss the matter. It is hard to conclude anything from that but one can certainly say each to their own. Only a person himself or herself can find out through experimentation what food and drink they are attracted to and what will be of some benefit. Now if they find out that urine therapy helps people to lose weight and cures baldness, it will really take off. Wim, your big hair and all I assume are due to genetics. Guest guest
You know Harsha, the things that we so vehemently discuss in the west are often no problem in the East. Most of yoga, tantra, lifestyle, etc. discussions are about the good old culture clashes. Once that is out of the way we don't need yoga and such anymore do we...? Is it really that simple? I think so. Emmy, Emanuel and myself discussed this yesterday at length at breakfast with lots of tea, I love those Saturday mornings when Emanuel comes over to visit us. We concluded that generation clashes brought about by great evolutionary inventions such as ... needing no tail anymore, walking upright, language and giving names, the flint stone and arrow heads, fire, the wheel, the agricultural, industrial and cyberial revolutions create most generational and thus societal problems which originate from or culminate in "personal acceptance" problems which are problems with SELF. If we would stop inventing things to make things easier... it would all be easier... Guest guest
> <snip> Washing a cut with urine is known around here, at least among the older country people. And using spiderwebs to stop bleeding. Basic remedies that are being forgotten. andrew
