Guest guest
Hello , I am new to the group. I read few messages and understood that some of the brothers and sisters in the group have awakened there Kundalini. Thats Great! Now that they have the power can it be put to good use? There are lot of people in our world who r born mentally retarded. They live in this material world phyically but mentally they r somewhere else. There parents are going thru' hell. They can't do anything but blame there fate. They have to attend to all the basic needs of there children like clean them(toilet),bathing them. These children are now in teens physically but mentally they are still babies 2-3 yrs old. They pray to God but basic question still remains. I always get those stereo type answers about Bad Karma done by the people in past lives they have to suffer in this life. Is there a way to help them? Is it possible to heal mentally retarded children?

The idea of past life bad karma is only an idea/belief. And, I might add - a load of crap! Every life is new and beautiful, lasts for a time, then returns (so to speak) to the vastness of being. Each life is an expression of and is that very same vast being. > > Is there a way to help them? They are the ones providing the help to those who are giving them care, love and service. > > Is it possible to heal mentally retarded children? Sometimes. I work a great deal with this population, and I do believe that I would disagree with you. True, their mental capacities are generally (by definition) limited, I have found many of these people to be some of the most "present" people that I have come across in non-spiritual circles. Even the nonverbal people I work with are inquisitive, lovable human beings. In fact, I have often thought that some of these people seem to be almost pure expressions of Spirit, with little overlay of ego. They seem nonjudgmental and loving, and I can feel my heart connect with them no less strongly than with the non-developmentally delayed population that I work with (and often much stronger). >There parents are going thru' hell. They can't do anything >but blame there fate. They have to attend to all >the basic needs of there children >like clean them(toilet),bathing them. These children >are now in teens physically but mentally they are >still babies 2-3 yrs old. True, many of these parents or caretakers have a difficult time. However, many (or even most) of the families that I have worked with seem to embrace the experience (and their child) with love and acceptance, rather than cursing the unfairness of the world or their situation. In fact, I have often been awestruck by the joy and tolerance that these parents bring to the daunting task of being a caregiver to this population. I have found that *my mind* tells me that they must be having a difficult time, while the reality of the situation is that the family unit seems to use the whole experience as an opportunity to "open and soften" (to borrow a phrase from John deRuiter). >They pray to God but basic question still remains. > >I always get those stereo type answers about Bad Karma >done by the people in past lives they have to suffer >in this life. > >Is there a way to help them? > >Is it possible to heal mentally retarded children? I would suggest that many of these children are in need of no healing at all. However, let me say that I think I do understand some of your meaning. But in my opinion, a person whom I think might be in the kind of "hell" that you describe is the spouse/caretaker of a person with Alzheimer's Disease. In my experience, these people have a much more difficult time than families caring for developmentally disabled "children." Or, if you want to get me going about unfairness (or somebody possibly repaying a "karmic debt") just bring up the whole subject of child abuse. The pain and fear that I see in some children's eyes touches a vast sorrow deep within me; one that is at times overwhelming. However, I have no control over others. True, I can advocate for and try to help others (be it a person caring for their spouse with Alzheimer's, a child who has been abused, or an adult who has been the abuser). But other than actions like this, I believe that perhaps the most powerful thing that I can do personally for these situations is to walk my own spiritual path consciously and lovingly, trying to radiate love, acceptance, tolerance and healing into the world. Perhaps you would be so kind as to share more about this issue that you brought up (and perhaps feel strongly about)? Love, Mike

Guest guest
Hi anupmaduskar ( What's your first name?) > I always get those stereo type answers about Bad Karma > done by the people in past lives they have to suffer > in this life. > Is there a way to help them? > Is it possible to heal mentally retarded children? The first thing that helps is indeed: seeing that the stereo type answer of bad Karma is a fallacy. Mentally retarded children may not be sick if it is the Down Syndrome type... there are so many types of retardation... what a word... who invented that? Unconditional love might help, I am told... hehe Love, \/\///\/\
Guest guest
anupmaduskar snip> There parents are going thru' hell. They can't do anything but blame there fate. jessica: Hello (if i may call you) Anu and not all parents of retarded children feel this way. They have to attend to all the basic needs of there children like clean them(toilet),bathing them. These children are now in teens physically but mentally they are still babies 2-3 yrs old. They pray to God but basic question still remains. jessica: May i inquire if you are the parent of or close to someone who is the parent of a 'mentally retarded ' child? And yes, I know this can be extremely dificult and at times heartbreaking for those involved. Many years ago, I worked in a hospital and cared for this type of mentally retarded child/person/people. Some were in their 20's, 30's and 40's but IQ wise were infants. A few had to be tied down in their wheel chairs and their beds, some hands bound, because otherwise they would do great harm to themselves. One at 30 was the size of a full grown man, but kept in a crib. All had to be diapered. At breakfast, lunch and dinner time, we'd have to hold their noses so they couldn't breathe which would force them to swallow, because they didn't have the intelligence to feed themselves or know how to swallow. This was extremely painful and difficult for me to do, but it was my job when I was 19 years old, so I have a sense of what you are talking about. I always get those stereo type answers about Bad Karma done by the people in past lives they have to suffer in this life. jessica: This kind of comment reflects not understanding the concept of karma ~ and ~ ignorance of (unable to understand) Truth Is there a way to help them? jessica: There are different ways that this can be approached and different levels. Is it possible to heal mentally retarded children? jessica: I can only share with you that a man by the name of Joel Goldsmith (although he would never claim to heal anyone)had successful experience with many 'impossible' cases; blind, paralyzed, etc., retardation included. There is even a tape where he talks about this. May i suggest you check out www.leelaa.net It is a site dedicated to both Robert Adams and Joel Goldsmith. There is a man you can email there, by the name of Lee, who was a devotee of Robert's and earlier was into Joel. He constructed that site and I believe he would be more than happy to point you in a direction that may be able to bring you some peace. The best to you, Anu Love, ~jessica

Now that they have the power It isn't that simple... it isn't like flicking a light switch and suddenly you have full Kundalini and power. ) It takes time and work to develop one's Kundalini and learn to use it. It's true that various gifts (or powers) come with spiritual advancement, but people usually tend to develop one or two specifically... one gift comes more easily to one person, another to someone else. Maybe because of the proclivities and prior experience in this life... maybe because of past-life experience. It's good to work with a group, where people with various gifts can work together. And these gifts come, whether or not the person has active Kundalini. I was part of a healing group long before I had active Kundalini. >can it be put >to good use? > >There are lot of people in our world who >r born mentally retarded. They live in this material >snip< You could do healing work yourself, especially as part of a group. Since that seems very important to you, why don't you work into it? Love, Dharma
