Guest guest
>> PS. May I inquire about your email address. Is that in honor of the Huichol Indians nierikas? << Indeed my screen name is in honor of and taken from the Huichol Indian word, "nierika." I first discovered this beautiful word in a book by an anthropologist, Joan Halifax, which was about shamans across the world. On the title page she had this word and a quote about its meaning. What I immediately connected with was the sense of the nierika being a portal to other realms of being as well as to the added meaning of it being the "mirror and face of the diety." This serves as a constant reminder to me that whatever I look at is Divine. Hologhai ~ Linda
Guest guest
>> I especially appreciate synchronicity. My own daughter is dealing with lots of mental imbalance and was just today released from the hospital...I also participate in an on-line group of parents of children with borderline personality disorders who have children that we are raising (our grandchildren). << Ah, so you are a Linda also. There are quite a few of us floating about our here. Seems to have been a very popular name in the late '40s and early '50s. Thank you for your warm comments and your personal experience. I empathize with you and with your daughter as well. There is a great deal of suffering around mental health challenges, and yet, I know from personal experience, there is also a great deal of strength, creativity, and joy. Sounds like you and your daughter have both in abundance. Shanti ~ Linda
Guest guest
Well there were three Lindas in my small elementary school class....some call me by my spiritual name Deva Anju which is another story. Yes there are challenges, pain, joy and all of what this drama we call life present in mental illness. The soul who presented itself as my daughter has been my greatest teacher this lifetime so much so that often I feel an entire book could be written. If ever there were a way to take the teaching of "the mind is not the self" from theory into practice, loving and interacting with a person who is more mentally ill than the rest of us, is it. Long ago I believed that patience, persistence and unconditional love were her lessons to me however as time moved on the philosophies of Vedanta which I hold so dear became alive as I walk the path with her. As she works to balance and grow it is a bonus to see her integrating these teachings with the medical care she is receiving. Namaste, Linda >Ah, so you are a Linda also. Shanti ~ Linda/joinAll paths go somewhere. No path goes nowhere. Paths, places, sights, perceptions, and indeed all experiences arise from and exist in and subside back into the Space of Awareness. Like waves rising are not different than the ocean, all things arising from Awareness are of the nature of Awareness. Awareness does not come and go but is always Present. It is Home. Home is where the Heart Is. Jnanis know the Heart to be the Finality of Eternal Being. A true devotee relishes in the Truth of Self-Knowledge, spontaneously arising from within into It Self.
