Guest guest
<< All verification is only Self-Verification. One must turn to one's Own Awareness and enquire into its nature. All else is speculation which may be useful for the time being but at some point one must be absolutely direct in one's enquiry. << Thank you for this, Harsha...and this gives me the opportunity to bring up something I wanted to ask you and all here about. Have you heard about the Association for the Happiness of All Mankind in Ashboro, NC? It is run by a man, A. Ramana, and offers courses such as the Self-Inquiry Intensive. It also offers a way to learn Self-Inquiry over the phone. The group states that Ramana Maharshi is the basis for its teachings. I am curious what others who follow Ramana Maharshi know about or think of this group. I have had somewhat mixed feelings, especially at one point, after I had gotten on the mailing list for their newsletter and began to receive repeated calls to attend a local open house. Anyhow, perhaps someone here can shed some light on this or has had some personal experience with it. Shanti ~ Linda
Guest guest
Hi Linda and everyone. I don't know anything about this group. The best source of information about Ramana Maharshi's teaching is the words of the Sage of Arunachala himself. The Official Ramana Maharshi Website run by Arunachala Ashram has all the needed information about Ramana Maharshi, his collected works, conversations with him and books written by his devotees who knew him. Anyway that is my personal preference. If someone can post the url or I will post it when I find it. I am ready to go to bed now. When I was 21-22, I first heard part of the song -- Arunachala Shiva, Arunachala, Arunachala Shiva, Arunachala, Om Shakti, Om Shakti, Om Shakti Om --Om Shakti, Jnana Shakti, Para Shakti Om! I was sitting at the Jain Center quietly meditating. All of a sudden the singers started. Arunachala Shiva, Arunachala (in an American accent!). I had never heard it sung before! My body hair stood on end and it was as if a thousand volcanoes erupted on my skin everywhere. After that I always pleaded with the singers to sing that song first before all others. They would smile and comply most of the time feeling sorry for me. Sometimes they had to exercise their artistic prerogative and sing other things. This reminds me that I should order a CD which has recently come out I think from the Arunachala Ashram.
