Guest guest
I am so sorry about that last post! I have a built-in mouse that is going nuts with static electricity and my computer is not doing what I tell it. I did not mean to send a one-liner. I wanted to say that it is the goal of my practice to turn depression into dark nights of the soul... it is only by meditating on my depression that the horror at disintegration turns to gratitude/bliss at the relief that another one of the bars of my jail cell has disintegrated and I am that much freer... I thought this quote clarified the purpose of my practice in a very Serena P.S. I tried using latex gloves on the mouse earlier, even that didn't help! In a message dated 03/26/2001 5:49:36 PM W. Guest guest
dear silver mouse, you asked: "I don't enjoy picking on you, but: what exactly are you trying to "maintain"? ding, dong, bell pussy's in the well! who threw it in? .... love, Edward" I'm reading a lengthy post on another list from a dear friend who quotes Denys Turner: "In retrospect, depression is "the revolt of the self in despair at its disintegration," while the dark night is the dawning of a realization that in this loss of selfhood, nothing is lost; it is the awakening of the capacity to live without the need for it. When the dark night passes, all is transformed. When depression passes, all is restored, and normality is resumed." you were asking about a hypothetical argument of a part of my persona, that very persona who I am finding to be an amusing, but unreal figment of imagination. who's left? just a wardrobe full of eccentric costumes. Depression is the dark night of the soul, chopped up into bite sized peices for easy consumption. (cough, cough) Love, Mark
