Guest guest
Drear So & So, What I do with some clients, in order for them to see themselves from a different *view*point is the following: I make two mug-shot like pictures of them, candid camera style, one picture of them smiling, the other one serious (all computerized). Then I have them look at the top half of both pictures (from the eyes and up) and ask them to pick the smiling one. You know what? That is very difficult as the eyes hardly ever show an inner smile (It is not being there anymore..., yes that is so sad, it make me weep almost every time.) Then I have them look at the bottom parts, it then becomes clear that the smile or the seriousness are both no more than grimaces, required conditioned responses. There is a whole lot more that we do with those pictures. I have the client recognize the expression of each eye by itself. One of them usually shows fear, the other one very often rage or a lostness in space. "So, that is not a lazy eye then? That is what my eye doctor says. Is that from when my dad beat me to pulp?" And then a memory pries itself lose... the start of some resolution eventually. We can tell by the left or right eye whether it is maternally or paternally instigated. Of course it is not the parents all the time but most of the time. Then we butt two mirrored left sides together and two mirrored right sides, all on the computerscreen. Ah, but this is enough... What I try to say is this, many of your (?) messages have a certain duality in spite of their claimed "beyond"ness. There is laughter, yet no inner smile. This may sound harsh... it is meant well... Investigate during self-inquiry through which I (eye) you are we looking... Who am I ? Who's eying me ? In another spot, I have written some harsh criticism on advaitism, non duality, the beyond-ness. (Nothing to do with Ramana Maharshi who is "gate gate gate...") There are strong reasons to believe that quite a few 'beyond-duality' people have not faced their dual parental influence forthrightly. Looking through one eye instead of two does not make an Advaitin make. Love, \/\///\/\
