Hello Linda... Get a new 'health' care practitioner. Seriously. Proper hormone replacement aims to adjust and maintain *all* our hormones at the level of what they were at age 25. The science on the health benefits of doing this is overwhelming and vast. For males DHEA levels need to be 2800 - 4000 ng/ml. Females: 1600 - 3000 ng/ ml. I advise everyone I counsel to get tested first. Anyone can purchase a DHEA test kit. You can get here here for $20.00. (better than reasonable) http://shop.store./hvl/intes2.html Anyone find better let me know. (I always appreciate a bargain) You spit in a tube and mail it back to the lab. Gte your levels first before restoring levels. With men levels begin to decline in their early 20s in a straight line to death. With women the decline is similar except there's a sharp drop-off perimenopause (40-45) This sharp drop off is indirectly the major cause for depression at perimenopause.(because of the drop in testosterone that a drop in DHEA will cause) Low testosterone levels will make men depressed too. 25 - 50 mg/day is a prudent start for someone age 40. (depending how far one is off from ideal levels) Test yourself again every 6 months thereafter and adjust dose accordingly to reap the vast physical and emotional benefits.
