of the Mantra spoken as

 

Om NaMa Shi Va Ya

 

translate into Om .. the primordal I AM

 

and the other 5 are literally the Sk. phonetics

for the 5 elements , Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Ether ..

 

In other words..

 

I am the interpenetration of all of the elements

I am all that is.

 

This is why in some circles, this is known as a "seed mantra"

Hi Christopher:

A good method of chanting the seed sounds is the use it as the

panchakra mantra and chant it "Na Ma Shi Va Ya" and then "Shi Va Ya

Na Ma" it brings the elements down and than back up....one can really

feel the energetic movement that is trantric yoga.
