Guest guest
Thank you Vicky and Dharma! Both of you now, send my favourite Ramana quote: Ah, the moment I first got it... the light delight ....... Daivarata : What in brief is the means to know one's own real nature ? What is the effort that can bring about the sublime inner vision? Bhagavan : Strenuously withdrawing all thoughts from sense-objects , one should remain fixed in steady, non-objective enquiry. This, in brief, is the means of knowing one's own real nature ; this effort alone brings about the sublime inner vision ........ No need now to go into the whole saying. At this point it is only important that we clearly see that Ramana says: "withdrawing all thought from sense-objects" Notice "...withdrawing all thought from..." It is impossible to get rid of the senses. It is impossible to get rid of sense objects. It is impossible to get rid of god - i am - soham. .... it cannot be done... .... it need not be done... That would be the same as taking your heart out; senses are organ based faculties, parts of one's physicality. etc. etc. We may withdraw them, draw them in maybe... but they will pop out again... like a snail's eyes... ever played with them? It is the application of, the identification with and the proliferation of judgemental activity (non loving-kindness) that surrounds and confuses the 'impressions-on-the-senses' and prevents the unencumbered processing, storage, retrievability and availability in freedom of sense data. etc. etc. The dys-passionate unclarity of thinking about 'what-the-senses-register' has become the problem. Thinking and thoughts per se are not the problem... we cannot even do without them. We have neat little fat cells that co-operatively register energetic electrical patterns... The cow has them in the gut, we too... but we have most of those specialized fat-cells in the brain. It is impossible to get rid of the faculty of thought. .... it cannot be done... .... it need not be done... love it all and you'll be all right Love, Wim
