Guest guest
This old lama is one of the greats. Venerable Kunsang Detchen Lingpa Rinpoche of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh will present a special two day Teaching and Transmission in New York City, May 18 and 19, Friday and Saturday, 2001 translated by Matthew Kapstein THE ROYAL WAY OF GREAT COMPASSION (Gyelbo luk-gi thujei chenbo) This treasure of the ancient Tibetan empire has been transmitted as a precious inheritance within all of Tibet's Buddhist orders. It inspired the great fifth Dalai Lama's religious and political vision, and was widely taught, as well, by all the masters of the Rime (ri-me, 'non-partisan') traditions. The Royal Way of Great Compassion is the inmost heart of the Tibetan emperor Songtsen Gambo, the emanation of Avalokitesvara, who unified seventh century Tibet and became the first fountainhead of the Buddha's teaching in that land. The intimate teachings that he delivered only to his own family and to privileged members of his court were a unique synthesis of Mahayana training in compassion, deity yoga dedicated to Avalokitesvara, and Great Perfection (Dzokchen - meditation on the original nature of mind ). Lost for centuries, his spiritual legacy was rediscovered as terma during the 12th century by Nyang Nyima Wozer and others, who named it the Royal Way of Great Compassion. This special event is presented by Zangdokpalri Monastery Project in conjunction with Giorno Poetry Systems. Kunsang Detchen Rinpoche, recognized by H. H. Dudjom Rinpoche as the "Lodrak Terton", is the 14th emanation of Melong Dorje. Rinpoche is a vidyadhara ('a holder of knowledge' - a realised practitioner) and terton ('discoverer of hidden treasure texts') lama. He is also responsible for 165 nuns and monks who he has been training, in addition to serving the spiritual needs of the community of this isolated region of India. He will be staying in the New York area for a few months and plans to transmit many more teachings and blessings of the Nyingma Buddhist tradition. * MAY 18TH, FRIDAY: WANG (Transmission) Begins at 7pm (try to arrive at 6.30) LOCATION: 310 East 67th Street, (New York Blood Center-between 1st and 2nd Avenues) * MAY 19TH, SATURDAY: TRI (Teachings and Explanations) LOCATION: 222 BOWERY (between Prince and Spring) For more information contact Tej Hazarika at 718 287 7221 or 718 703 2614 or email: thaza@r...
