Hi Vicki,

this is the way one feels towards one's Guru, or spiritual teacher. So

I think it is right and proper for you to have this attitude, to be

aware of it, and acknowledge it towards yourself and others. This

doesn't mean one would become fanatical and demean or belittle other

paths or other divine personages (which you do not do).

As regards books, I wonder if you know "In Days of Great Peace"

(subtitle: At the Feet of Sri Ramana Maharishi), by Mouni Sadhu. The

author of this deeply spiritual book is a Western devotee who lived

in the ashram during the time of the physical presence of Sri Ramana,

similar to Paul Brunton. "In Days of Great Peace" was written around

1950, and has long since been out of print, but if you can get hold

of it, I believe you will love it.

books)

Reading Ramana's books

===================

( a diversion from posting quotes -

speaking for myself and my own feelings only)

Yes , it doesn't matter how different or alien one might feel from

everybody around , in some other corner of the planet there is

at least another one feeling the same.

I have a woman friend , a Ramana devotee and we exchange books

and talk quite often lately.

Every book I try to read on the same subject finds its place back on the shelf.

I can't . I try a feeling of sadness and joy in the same time thinking :

"There is no one like Ramana. No other one says things so simple ,

so clear , so direct. "

Then I ask forgiveness in my mind to those other authors ,

and say , "What can I do? what can I do ? How guilty am I for feeling

that your words make His words shine even more ?

That your words in telling the same Truth make Ramana even

more unique and precious ?"

He shines for me behind every word He says;

should I feel guilty for putting other books back on the shelf

or return them unread ?

How much this depends on me?

The surprize came when I realized my friend felt the same.

"Did you like this book?" , I asked her.

"Well, ...yes , yes , very beautiful book !

But that's not like Ramana!"

I know , I know , I know !

Who can be anymore like Ramana ?

How many centuries it will take mankind to give us

a similar gift ?

All paths go

somewhere. No path goes nowhere. Paths, places, sights, perceptions,

and indeed all experiences arise from and exist in and subside back

into the Space of Awareness. Like waves rising are not different than

the ocean, all things arising from Awareness are of the nature of

Awareness. Awareness does not come and go but is always Present. It

is Home. Home is where the Heart Is. Jnanis know the Heart to be the

Finality of Eternal Being. A true devotee relishes in the Truth of

Self-Knowledge, spontaneously arising from within into It Self.
