Guest guest
Hi Vicki & All, Sounds like the person's prayer *was* answered, and the answer was "no!" A favorite saying I heard a while back: "The key to happiness is not getting what you want, it is wanting what you have." Take care, Donnalyn RamanaMaharshi, "Vicki" <viorica@z...> wrote: > > Dr. Syed asked , > " If a person prays for a spiritual good for say two years > and yet is not answered, what should he do ?" > > Bhagavan : > " It may be it is for his good that the prayer is not granted." > > ******************************************** > DAY BY DAY WITH BHAGAVAN , > From a Diary of A.Devaraja Mudaliar > ******************************************** >

The means is atmavichara. ""What is happiness? Is it a healthy and handsome body, timely meals, and the like? Even an emperor has troubles without end though he may be healthy. So all suffering is due to the false notion "I am the body". Getting rid of it is jnanam." (from Talk no. 633) regards Miles

What the ego needs to progress in its sadhana is always granted. Does the ego have the wisdom to pray for it? Is there a need at all to pray for some thing specific? Are we not blessed with Grace for ever? The story of Namdev where Vitthala (God) tells Namdev, a great Bhakta, to seek the Upadesa of a Guru, makes it clear that Atmavichara makes the surrender complete. The key to happiness is finding out who you are and abiding there. The means is atmavichara.- Miles Bhagavan Sri Ramana sang from the position of a Devotee : Anbodun naamangel anbardham anbarukku anbana idavarul Arunachala! (Aksharamanamalai in tamil - verse no. 104) Pray grant me to be the servant of the devotees of your devotees who hear (and sing) your praise Oh, Arunachala!
