Guest guest
Ultimately , even the scriptures are useless. (Arthur Osborne) "The scriptures serve to indicate the existence of the Higher Power or Self and to point the way to It. That is their essential purpose. Apart from that , they are useless. However , they are voluminous in order to be adapted to the level of development of every seeker. As a man rises in the scale he finds the stages already attained to be only stepping stones to higher stages , until finally the goal is reached. When that happens , the goal alone remains and everything else, including the scriptures , becomes useless." And yet, before the goal is reached, how valuable it is to find those pointers! Those words that point the way, often in very specific terms. There were times when a passage opened up to me and showed me the way to do something... or the next step to take. And also, even when I am not looking for something, how beautiful much of scripture is! To me it seems that a thing of beauty is to be enjoyed and cherished for its own sake, not just for what we may learn. Love, Dharma

I did also need a crutch. They are a help in narrowing the field and giving some mind training. They are also needed for those who have a low level of awareness, so they can practice indirectly the process of pre meditation. They are useful for reference to where one is at also. They help concentrate the mind, and give some rules to live by. In the end result because they are written down stuff, they are in the field of avidya or nescience ultimately. However 50% of the population has an IQ of 100 or less, and they are daily bombarded by the rubbish our leading rulers propagate. The wrong people control the world, we are ruled by sudras and vaisyas instead of kshatriyas and brahmins, so to speak. It is upside down, usurped and manipulated, even the religions are just vehicles for many. Also many of the highly intelligent people do not have a developed awareness, so even for these sometimes geniuses there is a need for scripture to lean on. It seems the pre-Adamics are in control. It is important for scripture, imagine what rubbish these people would write? They are interested only in material profit and not helping the growth of spirituality, just lip service, then back to their 'clubs'. Scripture is warm and reassuring to many new on the path, whether it is exoteric, esoteric or not. Om Namah Sivaya....Tony.

Nobody can tell where a person is at by the intellectual discussions on these lists. If you want to rest, that's fine I do....ONS Tony
