true love’s seal

this is the seal of the true lover’s love,

it is the dark love for the dark one herself

 

it is the thrill that entering fills the eye

awakens the mystic mind to still water

not to any water but to raging white water

flowing down from the mountain of god

flooding the sacred heart as a fragrant rose

not just any rose but a flaming blue rose

delicate as the violet kiss of a gentle virgin

 

my beloved, dress yourself as a bride

that coming to me we may to bed quickly

 

i do not come to you as a desolate man

nor a weary wise one squinting blindly

having read and reread too many tomes

tedious ruminations of ancient graybeards

wagging and nodding about unrequited love

pontificating about virtue and higher love

love more sublime than carnal love not tasted

 

my beloved, i dress myself as a bridegroom

that coming to you we may love languishingly

 

i was not born to die without lying with you

without first losing myself in you fiery eyes

burying my face between your firm breasts

tasting the hungry nectar of your eager tongue

penetrating the abyss of your eternal virtue

by beginning in what is low and dark arising

arising to eclipse all that is golden and lofty
