Are we to write our elected officials? ...send contributions to Amnesty International? ....anything? Over and over, while traveling through the southwest, I have felt in my soul what has been done to the indigenous peoples of this country. Even seeing the casinos, which I thought before I saw them were a good way for the Native Americans to at least get something from this country, I was torn by how commercial some of the pueblos I visited 12 years ago have now become. Of course, I realize that much of this devastation is past, and yet, what was done to the Amerindians is not so different. And when I find my own life a turmoil of reactions I cannot seem to get beyond or through, including anger, spite, fear...I feel in myself where it all comes from. I am babbling a bit here, but I never seem to escape the relationship between what I am experiencing and what is happening in the world. Lately, I have been memorizing a small part of the Chandi Path to assist myself. I am calmed to feel the ancient words go through me... Shanti ~ Linda ... Peace to the heavens; Peace on the earth; Peace upwards and permeating the atmosphere; Peace upwards, over, on all sides, and further. Peace be to us Shanti
