Guest guest
Hi Dan, I'm forwarding this to you from a conversation others are having that I thought may be of interest to you. I don't understand any of it but reading this has the effect of driving me out of mind for a few moments. Good teaching 'device'. Joyce Vasubandhu has exhausted this theme completely in his 'Karma siddhi Prakarana' where he showed how it is impossible to show that a shadow moves or even that it is the 'same' shadow one sees at any given moment/ He demonstrates there how any view of 'movement' in either materialities or ideas (consciousness, karma etc ) is a concept inherently flawed. We can compare KSP V10 'moerover when a thing is stable it has no movement And if it has no movement it is constantly stable On the other hand if it is not stable it also has no movement.' Shifu " If a thing moves, it moves either in the place where it is or in that where it is not; but it moves neither in the place where it is (for it remains therein) nor in that where it is not (for it does not exist therein); therefore nothing moves." Guest guest
Hi Joyce -- As understood here, it boils down to this: If nothing moves, nothing is being said or heard. So, the argument that nothing moves resolves everything, but doesn't leave itself there, so nothing is resolved. The argument that everything is moving leaves no way to remember what was said an instant ago, if one is fully moving with the movement. So again, the argument resolves everything, but leaves no way for itself to be maintained, and resolves nothing. Conclusion: Whether still or moving, everything is resolved as nothing is resolved: there is nothing to resolve. Resolution! Paths, places, sights, perceptions, and indeed all experiences arise from and exist in and subside back into the Space of Awareness. Like waves rising are not different than the ocean, all things arising from Awareness are of the nature of Awareness. Awareness does not come and go but is always Present. It is Home.
