Hello,

Here in France we have a saying :

Haiku-ku is well seated

Because the sound ku means 'ass' in french (cul).

So it is a smiling derogative sentence.

In the same way, the word 'eye' had another meaning in the 19th century

slang. It meant 'ass' too.

So the french idiom 'to put one's finger in the eye up to the elbow'

suddenly gets another meaning, perhaps (?) more logical : to make an

error, to be mistaking, to be in the wrong way.

Greetings from semantic France,

Frogyy Jacques

Whose wife Linda published a haiku book.
