Guest guest
Hi Alton, Thanks for sharing. You know, from what I heard from an Insight Meditation student, a very similar thing happened to found IMS itself. There was missing some sense of connection when some of the founders were still with Goenka. They wanted to discuss and articulate more. This became a difference of opinion, and a schism, and led to the founding of IMS. From what I heard.... There's another point that's very interesting too. Between Buddhist approaches and Advaita approaches, there are differences in practice, aesthetics, and metaphysics. But there are matters of deeper sentiment and "look and feel." No matter what is discussed, it is these things that often prove more decisive for many people. For example, one friend of mine found Buddhism to "grim and depressing." Another found Advaita too much like "hiding in the clouds." Who knows, whatcha gonna do?? :-) Love, --Greg
