My antivirus program detected a virus

attached to the message I just

received from Wim.

Yes, so did my system detected a virus in Wim's message too. And the

message itself looked mighty strange.

The attachment shouldn't be touched although it looks like the

hypertrm.exe terminal program, a fairly standard Windows modem dialler

program. Very strange.

If anyone doesn't have virus protection on their system, this should be a

warning. Use of a personal firewall like the program Harsha mentioned,

ZoneAlarm

(http://www.zonealarm.com/),

is also highly recommended (there is a free version available on the site

if you scroll down a bit).

I would like to recommend a fantastic program Called Go Back. You

need 10 percent of you hard drive available for it to work.

I have gone through 2 computer crashes and if I had that program I

would not been on tech support for 12 hours each time to reinstall

Windows. When every I have a tech problem it corrected it fast. Any

problem with your computer you just hit Go Back icon and it simple

lets you return to an earlier date. If you cant find it I will email

it to you.

They say it will work even it your computer crashes. My grandson's

new Gateway came with it.

Wim's message # 18152 has been deleted from the web archives, as the attachment was stored there.

 

Just to remind other moderators, this can be done, and should be when

there is possibility of spreading a virus. Those who read from

web-only might have opened the attachment. If I had not been away for

the evening, I would have done it sooner.
