Better in the palm of my hand than.....

Namaste All,

Today whilst taking my dog for a walk, I found a fledgling bird on the

footpath. It seemed weak so I picked it up and brought it home. It is

out on my balcony now, in the sun. It is in a birdcage with food and

water and an open door. Hopefully it will get its strength and fly

again, for it didn't seem injured.

As I was walking it home in the palm of my hand, I thought; 'How can

people kill and eat an animal like this and still say that they are

aware? It is not possible to be spiritual and do that, it is just a

badge a fad an intellectual exercise.

I feel that this way of treating a bird or animal is better than

devouring its corpse upon my plate.

Om Namah Sivaya....Tony.

Although you couch it in terms

that could easily be mistaken

for ahimsa, your constant

preaching against eating flesh

is in fact a form of violence.

Vegetarianism undertaken out

of guilt is not conducive to

clear awareness, it is a zero-

sum karmic wash and often a

misleading distraction. I say

this as a vegetarian of over

25 years standing, and I urge

you to examine your motive(s)

carefully. You have posted

what amounts to a chest-beating

exercise in the holy robes of a

heartfelt lesson. It is as

seen from here a violation of

the stated intent and spirit of

. There are many

Internet venues where such

activity is tolerated or even

welcome, in my view this list

isn't one of them.

Pax vobiscum, grandfather.

Namaste,

Thank you for your politically correct judgement on my post. I suppose

talking about various ways to eat meat like sushi etc, never gets a

mention. Why BS that's why. Sorry that you misunderstand

me...ONS..Tony.

It isn't a matter of "pc" as

in "politically correct," it

is a matter of "pc" as pure

courtesy. Satsanghi's do

not attend to be lectured by

their fellow satsanghis, they

come to share in a climate of

mutual respect, from whatever

point on their respective

paths they happen to be. You

have been violating that

spirit for a long time, and

it may well be time for you

to reevaluate your presence

here.

If that sort of stuff offends

you, you should certainly feel

free to mention it, either

publicly or in an e-mail to

Harshadeva. Remember, though,

that the sushi eaters are

sharing their experience, not

recommending it as essential

to a life of the spirit.

Share your experiences,

whether they be bird rescues

or your first wife's

arduous illness -- just drop

the lecturing and I can

virtually guaran-danged-tee

that folks will be far more

likely "get it!"

> Why BS that's why.

I'm sorry, Tony, I can parse

no meaning from this other

than a general sense of anger

and resentment

> Sorry that you misunderstand

> me...ONS..Tony.

Well, I can certainly agree that

there is some misunderstanding

involved, but I see it as your

misunderstanding of the spirit

of satsangh, which does not

including ongoing and highly

obnoxious soapbox mounting. The

human ego works in stealthy

ways, and one of them is "look

at my ahimsa, be like me!" This

is much the same as bragging of

ones humility -- the statement

immediately belies itself.
