If i were physically situated in India and in a position to help, it's almost certain i would be 'out there' helping in any way possible. In fact, i would be grateful for the privilege of assisting in such a disaster even in a small way. > If "effort" is irrelevant, why do those who become the saints and > sages perform tapas? i don't know. > I will say nothing more on this, except that if we are not > part of the "solution(s)" then we are part of the "problem(s)." What if there is no 'me' to be a part of either a solution or a problem... then all is well with the world, despite events. Yet without a 'me', it couldn't possibly indicate 'self-centeredness' either. Rather, life is then free to express itself in/as compassionate action. A previous Email from the Tao Te Ching, expressed it well, i think: Fill your bowl to the brim and it will spill. Keep sharpening your knife and it will blunt. Chase after money and security and your heart will never unclench. Care about people's approval and you will be their prisoner. Do your work , then step back. The only path to serenity. ------------------------------- Tao Te Ching Lao-Tzu -------------------------------- Love, Omkara
