Why Buddha is called the Buddha.

Namaste All,

The reason Gautama was called the Buddha was because he had a purified

Buddhi. Yes we are talking of the awareness sheath again. This has to

be purified to accept the reflection of the Atma to enable final

realisation.

Verbal non -dualism won't do this, Why? Because thoughts and

vibrations are the same thing. Words can only describe ideas that have

qualities or gunas; ie. the thought or idea of non-duality. So even

'Who am I?', is a flow of thought, and cannot be absolute. Seekers are

looking for knowledge not seeking to realise what is ignorance.

Only in a purified Buddhi can the 'Self', be realised, Moksha is not

possible without this purification. Which naturally entails sadhana.

Vibrations are thoughtlike, and as such prevent the purification of

the Buddhi. Even the thoughtflow, 'I Am', is impeded by these

vibrations. They are all individual and have to be removed or

cleansed. Therefore one stream of thought at the mental level may be

non-dual but there are myriads of others.

This is why the Buddhi has to be purified otherwise one is left with a

stream of non-dual thought, but moksha prevented by other vibrations.

This is one of the reasons Bhakti is much simpler than the jnana path,

or the more difficult Vndist. The cleansing is done by purification

and surrender.

Few among men are those who cross to the farther shore.

The rest, the bulk of men, only run up and down the hither bank.

But those who act according to the perfectly taught Dhamma

will cross the realm of Death, so difficult to cross.

Nonsense... clarity is *everywhere*, the Self is everywhere and

everpresent, like the sun in the sky. It is in fact impossible to

escape Freedom.

The reason few seem to realize "the sunlight is everywhere" is simply

because attention is attached to the objects illuminated by "the

sunlight." If attention should divert even for a moment, a "taste"

will be had -- such an authentic "taste" is enough to make any

sadhana effortless after that.

Now, let's take Jesus, Buddha, Ramana Maharshi, Shankara and

Nisargadatta. Out of those five, i know only one who practiced

any 'sadhana' at all. "Realization" is acausal -- "To whom 'it'

chooses, the Self reveals Itself."

If sadhana is approached in the spirit of "seeking something I do not

have," it could go on for a million lifetimes with no result. That

is because the Self is already Realized, and all paths "leading

toward" actually "lead away." The only 'method' recommended here

is "be still," and echoed by Ramana Maharshi:

"Your duty is TO BE, and not to be this or that. 'I am that I am'

sums up the whole truth: the method is summarized in 'be still.'"

-- Sri Ramana Maharshi

Namaste Tim,

Everyone of those you mention did sadhana, Ramana around the mountain

and in the cave, Jesus in the desert and Tibet/India, Sankara had a

guru, Buddhi did the most extreme sadhana, eventually ending up under

the Bhodi tree. Whether they were ripe from previous lives or not is

immaterial they set the example of sadhana for the ordinary seeker.

Again the Vndists are building up a great thought wave that will only

smash against the rocks of samskaric vibrations, if the Buddhi is not

purified........ONS....Tony.
