Guest guest
Hi Everyone, Here is an analogy to "Awakening" or Realization: Suppose you are sitting in a theater, watching a movie, and totally engrossed in the film. At that time, for all practical purposes there exists only the movie on the screen. You are totally involved in the film, the characters are so interesting, the plot so involving... this is a long film too, it seems to start the day you are born... since it started the day you are born, all you know is the film and the characters in the film. Now suppose something happens on the screen making no sense, or obviously not fitting in with the plot? Or suppose something similar happens? Suddenly you will remember, "this is only a movie." What happens then? Simultaneous with remembering "this is only a movie," the theater comes back into focus, and you see a screen with images playing out, and know that you are sitting in a theater. You were sitting in the theater the entire time, but did you remember this when so involved in the film? Taking the analogy a step further: Many characters seem to be seeking a way out of the film. Imagine a character in a film, seeking to escape the screen! A whole section of the film might be dedicated to a single character trying to get out of the movie, but how is a character in a movie going to get out of a movie? If the character realizes there is no escape, simultaneously understanding that there is no need to escape, nothing to escape and nobody to escape... the theater does come back into focus! Guest guest
Hi Tim! I like your analogy very much. It really fits ... There can only be humor on seeing how this movie works, the humor being that "seeing how this movie works" is only a scripted role unfolding for a character in the movie! It's quite amazing (although there is no one apart to be amazed), the way there seem to be relationships, give and take, something offered by one and responded to by another. The mind-boggling thing (as if there ever could have been a mind ;-) about this movie in which we play out roles, is that it is omnidimensional -- far more is "involved" than goes into an MGM Picture ... This movie is my mind, and my mind has no place to exist ... so -- what mind, what movie? The movie that never occurred, through which all occurrences appeared! So -- what if a mind-movie were constructed in which all of infinity is brought to bear, and yet there is no place for it to exist (places and existences only appearing once the movie is "rolling") ? Unfortunately, there could be no audience for it ... such a dilemma ;-) If we try to appreciate it, we attempt to be separate, and then we suddenly see - we're a character in a movie acting as if he or she could appreciate the movie, and as if he or she could notice that he or she is acting as if ... LOL! A huge silent laugh fills the universe -- totally surrounding the omnidimensional movie! This infinite movie, with no audience, in which the screen and the pictures are never two ...
