Guest guest
Attention Cattlemen Driving around the hills of Springville one might view all the beautiful cattle ranches we have here. What a sight, rolling hills, big oak trees, blue sky, Tule River, and views of the great Sierra. Peaceful cattle grazing upon our loucious grasses without a care in the world. Sounds wonderful to me, untill yesterday, when 2 big Black Angus bulls decided they didn't care for each other. Bulls can make some very strange sounds sometimes, but these sounds where just different enough to catch my attention . I need to take a better look at what is going on. Bull down looks like broken leg to me, he is trying to crawl away from the other 6 bulls that are stomping him to death. This is not a pretty sight, the downed bull is moaning , groaning, and trying to get up,but, his rear legs are not working. The other bulls are continuing their war. I must alert the owners! I'm told they know about it and will be out in the morning. My thoughts are now becoming very bothersome. Is this going to go on for the next 12 hours or untill the bull is dead? Will this lead to another fight among the bull family? Will there be another calamity? No, this is not right, the owner must come and solve the problem and put the poor guy out of his misery, he has to do it now, not 12 hours from now. Later, I notice the cowboy, he is looking at the downed bull. Then they have decided to remove all the other bulls. This is great I'm thinking, problem solved. The other bulls are moved from the pasture and all is quite. Now what? This is not the good part. There is nothing that can be done for the wounded creature, the phone rings, I have been told that things have been taken care of and the butcher will be out in the morning!!!!! I just want to tell you that this beautiful bull that grazed under the great oaks layed suffering for 14 hours waiting for the butcher. Now, I bet you really feel good hearing this. Why did the bull lay in pain suffering for 14 hours when he could have been put to sleep last night? MONEY, MONEY If the old guy was put down last night, his hamburger won't be any good tomarrow. So you see, this innocent creature, raised by us layed in misery all night long for the almighty dollar..... I wonder about people that treat animals with this disrepect, I wonder if they treat their own mankind like this? I lost sleep thinking about it, I bet the bulls owner didn't blink a lash. Hey, all you good old boys hope you enjoy your steak tonight.
