Is to twaddle, to move the fore- and ring- fingers? I know that to

twiddle is to rotate the thumbs around each other as if they were equal

mass Suns, shining brightly at a toddler just like your eyes as you

teach him (or try to - those toddlers can be pretty dim. like dogs, or

something. Is that it, that dogs haven't myelinated their cortices yet?)

I'll bet the verb twaddle is a bit like that, but what does the noun

mean? I see you used the nominative form. Well, I enjoyed it. It has a

kind of ring to it... "vndistic twaddle". Out of the mouth of an evil

mutant, or at least a Chicago mobster like Harsha, it would have a

certain punch to it, an onomatopoetic (sp? - too lazy to look it up,

sorry for the slipshod authorship here.) zing if you will. Oh darn. I

mean to say zip. Too late to change it now!

ps I hope you enjoy mine too. I think of is as a sort of absentminded

assistant professor. Unfortunately, it doesn't play in Peoria. Does

anyone play in Peoria? It doesn't sound like it, does it? Not even the

children.Hey, let's see if we can send email from Peoria.* Anyone know

how to direct your emails along the route you choose? That would be a

fun thing to do, seeing as how emails come, like those great trunks

people used to use in the 9th century, that would be covered with

shipping stickers after a lengthy trip around the world. Seems to me

that as kids we tried to do something like that with a letter (not an

expanding chain letter, just a single data stream, but one that would

bounce around for ages, picking up cool stamps and finally returning to

us. I don't think we ever figured out how to do it though, or if we

did, we didn't follow through and actually turn the task (do you like

that? it's a turn of phrase I made up myself. "turn the task".) I

probably won't name my boat that though. Now where was I? Oh, yeah, I'll

bet we won't be able to figure out how to do this either, or if we do,

we won't bother because it really isn't all that cool anyway, not like

stamps or those old-time stickers that told you where you (or at least

your trunks and the containers in which they were packed) travelled too,

but also were visual feasts in their own right.

 

* Except of course those of you who can do it easily because you live in

Peoria and actually have a thing or two to say to me for arbitrarily

starting this caboose of thought with what could be interpreted as an

insult to Peorians and their loved ones. Of course it wasn't, it was

just a silly joke about the language and how we use it. I love the

language, but it is a strange beast. You are too, Tony, but I am

enjoying the colorful way you say things.
