For better or worse, for many here "words in communication" are all there is to point toward that joyous and fundamental fact, whether it be the quoted words of revered sages or written dialogue between satsanghis. Thich Nhat Hanh said essentially the same thing in a lengthy talk he gave. That scientists are discovering and seeing the truth of no self and the interbeing (relatedness) of all, but they do not know how to live that truth. So they go home and still act as much like selfish egos as those who do not know. He said a lot more, but you probably already know that too. Who the heck is Baba Hari Dass, anyway? Jan Dear Jan, Isn't it interesting how the scientific approach to truth, studying matter, ends up discovering the same 'spiritual' truths as sages have been saying all along? Glo Not interesting, as for those discoveries there isn't a proper "use"... Unless, they can be used either in medicine or in advertising... That for instance there is no such thing as "self" is ignored - the consequences aren't taken. But what I was hinting at, is that there is a relationship between perceiver and perceived, determined by "conditioning", whether in the way how the scientific experiment is carried out, or that of the human creature. On a sub-atomic level, this is obvious, what isn't, is that "perceived reality" changes as a function of de-conditioning, and quite substantial when that part called "human affairs" is (in the process of being) stripped off. That is (and will remain) beyond the scope of "normal" science and engineering Jan

Glo The "latest" scientific discovery is that animals "might" be self-conscious after all... Something, when proved beyond doubt, would also "prove" the case for veganism... And then, no one can use the excuse "I didn't know" again, when consuming animals, killed for that purpose, or food, requiring such killing, like dairy...
