Guest guest
>> Also for too long.. loved all ego challenges and had an insatiate appetite to be pac man in these sort of games once started. But perhaps not too soon realized was a waste of energy only going back to from whence it came. << Hmmm...as a young adult, especially while in college, I became aware of this...activity. The term I learned to describe it was "playing devil's advocate." This seemed to mean to the person doing it that there was license to question just for the sake of questioning (not really for getting info in a sincere way) or verbally attack for the sake of attacking. I have never enjoyed being subject to this, though, perhaps because of my upbringing, I have tended to be very vulnerable to falling into the trap of attempting to explain. I used to get myself completely knotted up, because, as you know, nothing the person being questioned says satisfies the questioner. Now, sometimes I still react, and the knot ends up in my stomach, but I am much better at disconnecting as soon as I realize what is really happening. This is a game I no longer have time or inclination to play. Shanti ~ Linda
