Dearest Papa Swan,

How I like that name! My Guru's name, Paramahansa Yogananda, with the

Paramahansa meaning "highest swan," is always brought to mind

whenever I see your name. You mentioned Kriya Yoga in an earlier

post, so I did visit the site on Kriya Yoga that you posted. I

received initiation in 1980 from Brother Bhaktananda, at the

Hollywood temple of Self-Realization Fellowship. No words can express

what this beautiful relationship with my Beloved has given me. For

myself, Kriya Yoga has been everything that Master promised it would

be. Are you then, a Kriyaban? I take it that you are. Please, if you

wouldn't mind, could you share more with me about your experience

with Kriya Yoga.

Love, Always Love,

Mazie

Dear Mazie:

If you address me with Dearest, I will gladly become a Kriyaban too.

Do they give you the technique right at initiation and do you have to

take strict vegetarian vows? Thanks in advance.

My Dearest Alton,

My addressing you as dearest doesn't require you to become a Kriyaban,

it is just my heart speaking to yours in the language of the soul. At

least it the language that is most comfortable to me. If you desire

to become a Kriyaban, vows of loyalty to the Guru are taken and

promised. It is a sacred bond. The technique is learned before one

takes initiation. It is practiced for a year before the sacred vows

are taken. Vegetarianism is advised for all of the SRF devotees, but

it is something that is the devotees own decision. We do not take

vows to adhere to this practice. The practice of vegetarianism is

beneficial to the meditational techniques I practice, but whether one

is or isn't a vegeatarian is of no consequence to me. What I do is

what is important. I have no desire to change others or sway them to

my way of thinking. The only way I can effect a change in anyone is

to change myself. To criticize a meat-eater is somewhat a violation

of ahimsa, it is a form of violence. Perhaps I am violating ahimsa by

even saying this to those who criticize meat-eaters. In my vows of

loyalty, I have avoided spiritual indigestion by not flitting

everywhere and filling up with every offer that appeals to me at that

moment. I feel blessed that I did find what I was searching for at

such an early age. I found my Guru, or rather he found me when I was

twenty-one, in 1975. This does not mean to imply that I don't read

and find joy in the teachings of others. I just have no desire to

leave my chosen path and look elsewhere to find my answers. I have

found what I am looking for in my Gurudeva. I am in love with Love.

This group has shown me another side of the coin, one which balances

well with my Bhakti Yoga. Tim/Omkara answered my query of how do I

reconcile Bhakti-Yoga with Non-duality when he explained that to

become one with the One is the same thing. To become that Love.

My Dearest Mazie:

You have so much love eminating from your self that it brings tears

to my eyes when I read you posts.

My wife allows me to have virtual relationships but she watches me

like a hawk and can get quite jealous as she is a LEO.

She does not have to be concerned as we have an unusually fantastic

marriage and I have been faithful in deed by not necessarily in

thoughts. So I dont get a 100 percent rating but since I am not my

thoughts I dont put myself down for what my mind does non-

volitionally.

I have as vegetarian consciousness but have failed at it with much

suffering. I plan to go out as a vegetarian after I complete my

duties with my wife and 91 year old mother. Both would freak out and

suffer much if I left my vehicle.

One last question? Before you take the vows of committment to the

Guru do they give you the final technique or do you just get a sample

of the technique?

Thanks in advance.

Loving you loving me loving you,

Dearest Mazie:

I just reread your post and I might be confusing the Sacred Vows with

the vow to the guru. What are the the sacred vows?

Hi Mazie

In the mid 50`s originally read Yoganandas

Autobiography and from there met a guru in Raja

yoga. I Was in a prison within a prison and there

were no tools for self realization in the wonderful

biography so was a mixed course for me but led to

sat cit ananda.

As resonated much to Babaji.. in later years took

the SRF course from the Los Angeles ashram and was

invited into the ignitiation to be a kriyaban

But when was thru the ignitial course saw it was not

going to be any different from what I was already

doing and already knew. I did question myself however

concerning it and came back affirmed it

was my love for Babaji.

Papa swan came from some undeliberate folly but

has since spoken it came from nowhere.

I kind of had a chuckle about it recently when

telling someone I preferred to avoid ripples on my

pond and saw a darshan or vision of some swan floating

somewhere on a smooth lake. LOL!

You probably already have it but could send you

Yoganandas last smile 1 hour before his mahasamadhi.

Btw there is one still living Paramahamsa embodied

now for 93 years with a kriya ashram in Florida.

Guru was Shri Yuketeshwar. Yoganandas guru.

Well hopefully it`s not disapointing I`m not a

kriyaban but see myself sort of as a Heinze 57 X ?

since a day long ago.

Love, always love, so true when known and realized.

Namaste Dear Mazi
