Sattva is a bit like Brahman a concept and a non concept. Sat being

pure existance, it can be used to denote Brahman. On a day to day food

basis it is equanimity and balance. Good actions etc but ultimately it

is the space between two thoughts........Hu

The Patanjali aphorism - I,16 - in the translation by Purohit Swami reads:

"The highest form of detachment is the automatic renunciation of the three

qualities,

the result of Self-experience"

 

M.N. Dvivedi's translation:

"That is the highest, wherein, in consequence of being the Purusa,

there is entire cessation of any, the least, desire for the Gunas."
