Guest guest
The turning of Tao is not sentimental. A sun is born, gives rays, light is used for organisms to develop. A sun goes nova, gives rays no longer, such organisms are seen no more. With the experience of pleasure, comes the experience of pain, comes the identification as a being knowing the experiences of pleasure and pain -- I ... I don't want to see that with which I identify hurt or die, as I don't want myself to hurt or die. With identification as a being knowing pleasure and pain come the feelings/motivations of concern and caring for others with whom identified, also comes the feelings/motivations of sorrow and distress, and anger toward those seen as indifferent to the plight of those with whom I identify. Identification arises and departs. Tao does not arise and depart. That which has never identified, but allows all kinds of identities to arise and depart -- which goes not by feelings, yet allows all sorts of feelings to be expressed -- call it Tao -- Dan Maybe this testimony will give we westerners some insight into how Hindus feel about the industrialized slaughter of cattle. Yet, the raising of our winsome fellow higher mammals for food has been been part of traditional cultures is Asia for tens of centuries, in the west we just exclude our favorite canines and felines from the carnage -- does that really make any difference?
