Dear list:

I am no longer a vegetarian, but I dont rationalize my weekness.

We used to meditate in a Viet Buddhist temple and we became friends

with Soma Loka who was staying there at the time. He has a Vipasana

center in Australia. He is a vegetarian and was quite upset about the

Tebetan's claim that they are RELEASING SOULS by eating flesh.

The Dalai Lama wanted to be a vegetarian and tried it and failed. Too

many centuries of eating flesh was hard to overcome.

Love and have a compassionate weekend.

To be fair to the Lama let's remember

he wasn't afforded a whole slew of

soy meat-replacment products...

I've tried "Boca Burgers" and,

like so many soy-based foods,

they inflate my gut like the

danged Hindenburg. No sale!

I eat carbs, veggies, some

dairy and the occasional egg

dish, supplemented by a

"natural" multi-vitamin,

vitamins C and E, folic acid,

and one enteric (coated)

aspirin per day as per my

MDiety's advice. My

digestion remains very

sensitive -- much improved

since giving up all meats 25

years ago, but still a

constant reminder of my body

at its work.

No thanks, I've observed

enough of the struggles of

hooked and netted fish to

avoid anything fish-based.
