Guest guest
I joined the list just this week; but it became immediately apparent that there exists here a mood of contention. I have been searching the archives for this root. The following series of posts, as a digest listing, summed-up this matter nicely. I will try to quote each respondee as I understand it; however, with the number of posts involved, I may misquote someone. If so, it is not my intent to do so, nor does it reflect the core issue. Harsha wrote [[.. Realizing (God /my insert/) in 1980 (which is true).]] Greg wrote [[.. most folks when asked about statements like these seem only too ready to say something more about it, even if it's to say that there's nothing that can be said.]] ** Perhaps. There is also the otherside of this 'coin' - that the term 'realization' (though bantied about & mis-understood) is self- explanatory. Meaning, once said, there is not much more to be said. I believe Greg then wrote [[A new member of Advaitin had written a message claiming his own God-realization and the powers that grew therefrom. He listed his website and announced that he would take questions.]] ** In my mind, this would immediately set off 'warning' tones. Why? Because, it sounds as if the above gentlemen is setting-up- shop. Sort of putting a sign on that reads, "Hey, look at me, a self- realized guru." The next step after that is, generally speaking, "Send money!" Alton then asked a series of Qs (regarding Harsha's proclaimation of Realization) [[What does that mean?; You have no more "I" thoughts?; You dont want anything?; Nothing ever goes wrong in your world?; You never get angry from outside events or inside events?; When you realized "GOD", what happened? Did you get any headaches like UG?; Was there a change in your body on a cellular level?; Why do you have a need to announce it to the world?; If you are realized do you still meditate, and why do you if your answer is yes?]] ** It is clear to me that the concept of Realization is not completely understood here. Realization, God Realization, Self Realization, Enlightenment, Liberation, Enstasy, Samadhi, et all, means 'direct knowledge of God'. I would hazard that there are more than a few folk here who can make such a claim. With that said, realize that this term is not singular. There are several 'stages' of Realization. Nirvikalpa Samadhi, means "ultimate spiritual attainment". This level is said to be achieved via the Kundalini force as it reaches & 'bursts' forth from Sahasrara, or the crown chakra. This form of Realization brings in a level of "non- experience". Meaning, it can only be experienced in the aftermath as it is a permanent change in PERCEPTION. Or, an INTUITIVE FAMILARITY with That which surpasses understanding. In other words, Realization is a direct & personal experience. One not easily related into words. Om Shanti ... Guest guest
Dear Yogini: Thanks for you accurate summation. You wrote: I believe Greg then wrote [[A new member of Advaitin had written a message claiming his own God-realization and the powers that grew therefrom. He listed his website and announced that he would take questions.]] ** In my mind, this would immediately set off 'warning' tones. Why? Because, it sounds as if the above gentlemen is setting-up- shop. Sort of putting a sign on that reads, "Hey, look at me, a self- realized guru." The next step after that is, generally speaking, "Send money!" Has not Harsha, who proclaimed that he is realized "Set up Shop" here on the Harsha board? In Ramamas "Talks" he was asked a question by UG Krisnamurti. Can you give me what you have? Ramana answered: "I can give it but can you take it" UG almost could not take it when it came. If Harsha who was poking fun at Vijay refused to say that he too was joking about his realization or that he realized GOD but has not been tranformed, than that will satisfy me and I will quit the questioning. Meanwhile Harsha remains silent. Hey, when his guru Ramana was repeatedly asked questions he answered them, as he took it to be GOD asking IMO. Other wise if only one person here does not like my style here, then they can ask me to leave. So far I am doing what is right. Love, Alton
