Guest guest
>> The whole which can split itself infinitely, while remaining itself, is truly whole. The words we come up with for this whole, such as whole, totality, consciousness, being, identity of self and Self, God, and so on, are always partial. << Hi Dan ~ this reminded me of one of my favorite Vedic affirmations (I use this word for lack of a better, yet it is certainly at least this). Sometimes translated as "the Whole," sometimes, as in this case, translated as "Perfection," but, as Swami Jyoti says in his brief intro, "That which God created out of Himself has been eulogized in the Vedas": Om Poornamadah Poornamidam, Poornaat Poornaamudachyate, Poornasya Poornamaadaaya, Poornamevaavashshyate." ("From Perfection we are born, in Perfection we live, everything is in Perfection, in Perfection we shall end.") This is often included in aratis (closing prayers) during puja. I love the way the sounds roll off the tongue and out of the mouth. Also, and perhaps Harsha has something to say about this, I am discovering that all of these ancient texts are written in certain meters that have names and are mathematically divided, like music. I like that. Four and multiplications of four is one often used meter. Shanti ~ Linda
