Guest guest
Linda ))) How was your trip???? I was gone when you came back, and I was wondering? Hi Lynette :::waving::: thanks for asking... The trip was wonderful. Doug and I took off in our rv with our two dogs, and we didn't come back for seven glorious weeks. We had several purposes. One was to vacation, relax, release, have fun traveling through (mostly) the southwest. I had not been there in over twelve years, and my spirit was saying, "return, return..." The other was to look for a new place to call home. Two years ago I left the mayhem of Washington, DC, and came to eastern Oregon at the behest of my spiritual guides. I came to heal, to create a closer connection to the "land" and nature, to do my creative work, and to continue my visionary work. This was a wonderful place to do that. On the other hand, once being well into the process, and longing to share my work again, there is not much happening culturally here. So we were looking for a sense of spirit in the land, a community of artists, hopefully a university or college, some hint of a spiritual community, a temporate climate, and a small town atmosphere (no more big cities for me). Not too big a wish list. : ) Also, I wanted to see and spend time with Shree Maa and Swami Saraswati, but we only were able to attend their fire yagya in Colorado. (So after we got back, we turned around and left again, to go to Issaqua, WA, for a retreat with them. That was also very very wonderful.) I had many unplanned for treats, one of which was finding out about a petroglyph site I had never heard of. It was my first encounter with this ancient art, and I was awestruck as we clambored around on the rocks, looking at simple elegant spirals, animals, shamanic figures, and "family portraits" (not sure what else to call these as they were usually four or more people, two large and the rest small). I also had the great fortune to see a show, which featured Judy Chicago's latest (massive, years long) project. What a delight! We found our place, in Silver City, NM, which is equi-distant between Tucson and Los Cruces. It doesn't have the typical NM appearance because it is a high elevation (southern NM), in the high pines and pinon. It is beautiful, bordering on both the Black Range (national forest) and the Gila National Forest. Silver City is a moderate sized town, definitely not a city, and there are more than 50 galleries! The artists we met were all wonderful, there is a sense of community and cooperation, even though there is tremendous diversity of medium, style, and range of experience. Anyway, now we are packing. My daughter, Amy, is coming to stay with us for 3 weeks. I can't wait!. Then we will head to the southwest in mid September. Spirit calls!
