Guest guest
>> Today is the saint-day of Goswami Tulsidas. Below is a brief bio on him, written by Gurudeve Sri Swami Sivanandaji - Jai! ______ Tulsidas was born in Rajpur, in the district of Banda in Uttar Pradesh, in Samvat 1589 or 1532 A.D. He was a Sarayuparina Brahmin by birth and is regarded as an incarnation of Valmiki, the author of Ramayana... << Dear yogini ~ thank you for sharing this information about Tulsidas. I love the Ramayana, though the way I have come to know of it (other than its name) is not by any traditional route. A number of years ago, my sister, whom I think of as one of my upa gurus, had a friend who had the entire collection of video tapes from an Indian production (for their television) of the Ramayana. I have a copy of one of the tapes, and I have only ever seen a few, but I love them so much. There is actually, in the first tape (program) a brief story of Tulsidas, that shows him receiving the inspiration to write the Ramayana, and homage is paid to him and to others who translated it into many different dialects.
