Guest guest
the color of colors "Is it nothing to you, all you that pass by? Behold, and see if there be any sorrow like my sorrow...." -Lamentations 1.12 on our return journey we embrace many colors vacillating between the silver of fugitive moments tarnished shadows of fading glory forgotten seeking obscurity within glaring neon we scurry frenetically and lamely scamper seeking gold transparency at the rainbow's edge believing that our heart's desire lies ever just beyond hidden in the cauterizing glare of too much golden light but the color at the heart of all things bright and dark the palette, the base, the insubstantial color of all art the seamless canopy upon which we paint our lives as we seek crimson satisfaction in chartreuse glory dancing thoughtlessly from rainbow to rainbow is not silver nor black, nor green or even gold the color of the infinite ground at the heart the simplicity at the center of complexity in all its infinite shades of immortality the iridescence behind fading clouds the color to which darkness yields is the color of infinite sorrow the color which embraces us on our journey of returning out of the many colors is the color within color is a blue rose the heart of my true beloved is a bright gem a gem of shifting colors, an alexandrite at the heart of this most precious gem is the crimson fragrance of the rose the cobalt source of this fragrance is an eternal flame of holy fire at the heart of my beloved's heart is my heart at the heart of my heart is a fragrant red rose at the heart of my heart is my beloved's heart at the heart of my beloved's heart is a holy fire at the heart of these two hearts burns one heart a sapphire flames within the heart beyond hearts within the sacred heart beyond all is a blue rose the color at the subtle heart of the ten thousand things the complex color within and beyond all simple things is the fragrance of sorrow is the incandescence of love the amethyst fragrance beyond my scintillating yearning the color burning within my sorrowful love is a blue rose my beloved is the color of colors, the love bluing within all roses Oh, my beloved..., there is no color like your color, no fragrance like your fragrance. there is no sorrow like your sorrow and no love like your love, there is no blossoming beyond your burning blue rose within me. I come from within you, I am always you, I return to beyond to you. mark christopher valentine (July 27, 2001)
