Guest guest
Namaste All, I also just returned from a break in Mexico, my usual place to go, unless I'm going to OZ. Anyway it was an interesting insight to watch tourists and the locals. All looking for happiness in their own way, and each thinking that the other had the answer. The observation of samskaras forming was amazing, and showed they are unlimited and that there are no happy ones really. I went to the church in San Blas where Juniper Serra left for California. I wondered what samskara drove him, and I even to be there. There is no happiness in any manifestation, only at the surface level. For deep below the surface in the subconscious are all the samskaras and tendencies that cause the pain. Every memory is a trap with a theatrical face, tragedy and comedy. No memory no thought no samskaras purification and observation is the key it seems.......ONS...Tony.

And please - what is a samskara? There is no happiness in any manifestation, only at the surface level. For deep below the surface in the subconscious are all the samskaras and tendencies that cause the pain. hello again - I think we resonate here. maybe i haven't been paying attention, and for that i apologize - but, what the heckola is a samskaras? Every memory is a trap with a theatrical face, tragedy and comedy. I get that one alright... No memory no thought no samskaras purification and observation is the key it seems.......ONS...Tony. Okay - here's a break - what's ONS ? For that matter, what's a 'Tony' ?? all my best, valkyrie

In fact, making this observation created an 'impression' within yourself. There are several types of samskara. Generally, it means, "impression, preparation, activation". A samskara is an imprint put in place via experience. They begin while still in the womb; birth brings many more; then on to childhood, adulthood & maturity. In addition, these same samskaras also represent puja. Sacred rites that mark the milestones & passages of our life. [[There is no happiness in any manifestation, only at the surface level.]] ** During my short time on this list, I have noticed that the majority of those here adhere to Sankara's interpretation of the Vedas. Personally, I am a Saivite. My view of maya is far different than is often represented here. Maya is ever changing matter; it is the body of Lord Siva. Maya translates to mean, "She who measures; super-natural power". It is a form of energy, the cosmic creative force. It contains within it the motion of creation, preservation & destruction; therefore, it is constant change. This latter interpretation has lead to the Western correlation with "illusion" .. this is inaccurate. As such, my perspective of maya as relative reality, versus the Absolute reality. Om Santi ... He was the apostle of California, which was part of Mexico at the time, as was Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas and Utah for that matter. The ruin on the hill is the old compound etc. Samskaras are impressions in the mind that result from the action of the mind going out so to speak. They carry on from life to life. They need to be neutralised and purified to prevent 'rebirth', and they interfere with realisation. Verbal non dualism, Vndism, isn't enough, practice and purification is necessary, according to the sages. Om Namah Sivaya...Tony.
